The Computer Centered Method Of Getting From The Author S Conception To Completed Print Or Electronic Book Has Come To Dominate Publishing, Involving Not Only The Setting Of Type But Also The Preparation Of Manuscripts, Editing, Illustration Creation And Processing, Page Makeup, Color Separation, And Preparation For Printing Even Significant Than Its Use For These Individual Procedures Is The Computer S Role In Creating An Integrated System That Is Greater Than The Sum Of Its PartsCovering All The Publishing Processes Up To Distribution, Bookmaking Addresses The Needs Of Publishing Professionals, Whether They Do The Work Themselves In House Or Have It Done To Their Specifications By Outside Suppliers But This New Edition Is Not Only About Technological Change All Aspects Of Bookmaking Have Been Reconsidered The Text That Served The Industry For Nearly Three Decades Has Been Updated Where Appropriate, While Still Providing The Unchanging Facts And Principles Of Book Craft An interesting read, although it shows its age Still, a helpful look and surprisingly informative from a production standpoint, although again, needs to be broughtinto the electronic age. I was searching for design inspiration but I found a dry and rather boring textbook about how to make a book. The positive side is that you can find EVERYTHING you need to know about the process from idea to publishing. It s just boring And outdated Have you ever heard of computers, Marshall Boring Have already forgotten most of it The technology is out dated Probably won t read again or use as a reference. I really hate this book for many, many reasons. It is what it isa good book for people who make books. Hefty, but it had good info.Three Stars Not bad, but not fantastic either I ll still recommend it, if I think that person might like itthan me. This is an interesting overview of the publishing process from start to finish, but it is already way outdated I thought he did a good job of covering the important information without getting mired in details.
